Our name & vision is encompassed around deuteronomy 15:11: “for the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘you shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land”

About

Open Hands Community Care

(OHCC) is a not-for-profit Australian owned Christian based charity, registered under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, spearheaded by The House of Prayer Church based in Brisbane, Australia. Formed in 2018 as the Outreach and Social Services Ministry of the Church, Open Hands Community Care seeks to contribute to the capacity building and transforming of lives of individuals and families for a life lived abundantly!

Through comprehensive and integrated support services, we seeks to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of youths, children, men and women alike, whilst creating, protecting and promoting a healthy and peaceful platform for a better tomorrow. Our care services are tailored to be innovative, relevant and responsive, meeting the diverse needs of the people within the community, especially those from CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) Backgrounds. We aim to work closely with other organisations and charity bodies to help promote and advocate for their rights and cater for their individual wellbeing.

Our Mission

Our connection with The House of Prayer Church means, we share the overarching mission of the Church, which is proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Living out this mission of ‘love thy neighbour as thyself’ we will walk alongside those in need:

  • To serve with love and humility;
  • To show compassion by offering care and support;
  • To advocate for the most vulnerable and help them to live their lives in fullness, abundance and hope;
  • To be passionate and determined in our commitment to achieve exceptional outcomes for clients, their families and the community; and
  • To actively participate in and contribute to the whole-of-church mission.

We seek to add value to our community by providing high quality community care services tailored to meet clients’ needs.
