On Friday, 6th December, 2024, Open Hands Community Care’s Neighbourhood Marketplace had the privilege of hosting a special visit from Hon. Milton Dick MP, alongside an Australian Post representative. This visit celebrated the awarding of a $2,000 grant by Australia Post to support our community driven “Hug a Mug” initiative.
The Hug a Mug program provides free coffee and a warm, welcoming space for individuals in our community to connect, share, and enjoy a sense of belonging. This initiative has become a cornerstone of our efforts to reduce social isolation and create a supportive environment for all.
The day was truly memorable as Hon. Milton Dick MP and Australia Post representatives saw firsthand the positive impact this grant is having. Their generous support ensures we can continue to provide meaningful opportunities for connection, one cup at a time.
The team at Open Hands is incredibly grateful for this generous contribution and the ongoing partnerships that allow us to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
